DMCA and copyright takedown notices
Last updated: 9 October 2026
MIB Vault is an independent, enthusiast-run project operated by Plain Team. We respect intellectual property rights. If you are a rights holder, or are authorised to act for one, and you believe material available on this site infringes your copyright, you can ask us to remove it using the process below.
Where to send a notice
Email is the preferred channel for formal notices. Telegram is available for quick contact.
What a notice must include
To be effective, a takedown notice should contain the following (see 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3)):
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorised to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
- Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it, such as the page URL or the file path in the archive.
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
Please note that knowingly making a false claim in a notice can carry legal liability (17 U.S.C. 512(f)).
What we do
We review each notice that meets the requirements above. Where a notice is valid, we remove or disable access to the identified material promptly. If a notice is missing information, we may contact you for the details.
Counter-notices
If you believe material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same email address. It should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and telephone number.
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the courts where you are located, and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
